This story will have darker and crueler content, due to the setting I want to story to have. Language and Events may be too much for some readers, so I'm calling this one 17+. But you'll probably read it anyways.
Prologue
A Man's voice, deep and wise, echos through the darkness.. "Codenamed: Gridlock. Reason For Containment(RFC): Shut down an entire city block. Power: Unknown. Past: Unknown. Danger Rating: ...Maximum." The Man's deep voice is replaced with a teenagers voice, sounding rebellious, but controlling. Also wise, this voice takes over.
"Sometimes life's not fair," they say. Is life ever fair? Not for us. I grew up in a town called Quincy. I never got treated normally in my neighborhood. I was always picked on, and left out at games, and you though being picked last was bad? I ran away from home at age seven, I brought nothing at all with me, like I knew what I was doing. Damn, that was a turning point in my life for sure. At home my father was an alcoholic. He spent all of our money on his alcohol. My Mother was always either at work, or on drugs. She spent her whole paycheck on her little obsession too. When my father got angry he would loose it and beat my mother. They both always blamed me for ruining their lives, like I had a choice in the matter. Then, after I ran away I found out about it. I was able to shut down machines, like a living EMP. It was a really sweet skill, and it kept me alive out there. I shut down entire security grids to break into houses, take food and some clothes. Hey! Don't look at me like that, I gotta eat you know. Eventually these guys started appearing in big black cars. The FCU. They were coordinated, and they were fast, with their cars and automatic weapons. If I wasn't able to shut down all of their vehicles, I definitely would have been caught right then. It took a while, but I noticed they weren't after me, not yet. They were after others like me. People with powers who were out there. They collected us. I followed one once, to the airport. Obviously they weren't based anywhere near Boston. When you live out here, you see some dark things happening in the alleys, at night or during the day. I saw people dying, people being killed. There was muggings, shootings and rapes. It wasn't all bad though, these streets became a new home to me, and some of the people I knew out there, out in those streets, they were the best friends I ever had. Scotty, the crazy bastard. He was a veteran thrown onto the streets from the war, and he had lost an ear. Funny as hell though. Johnny, what a badass. He kicked the assess of anyone who messed with me. And then there was her, Oh how I miss her now.. Anyways, One normal day I was out there in those streets, they got me. I was standing on a street corner. Tremont and Camden Street. I.. I lost control. A large blast occurred, I was just going to the store to buy her flowers, she worked there... I felt dizzy, and then my head hurt. I didn't mean for it to happen, but I saw the crash. I think she was in it.... All the buildings, the lights, all of it. The cars died too, including the power brakes. Nobody could have seen it coming, I didn't even know what had happened until I got up to my knees and looked. A whole block, taken out. Cars, building, lights... and a helicopter. It was all my fault. I felt someone pulling me, a sharp pain in my neck, and then... Darkness. When I woke up, they had me... I was inside. The workers here call it the Federal Conservation University. But us here, inside.... The people they have taken, We have a different name for this place. This hell.. we call it.. The Freak Containment Unit.

Chapter One: No More Rain
Gridlock's voice begins: I've spent four days here now, in the FCU. When you get put here they give you a room. Well, it's kinda of a room, but it's mostly a prison cell. You know, Gray brick room, cruddy mattresses, disgusting walls and floors. The rooms usually fit two, and you share a room with partner. My partner didn't last too long. The room has a toilet and a sink, which are ironically very clean. Also, there's a small screen embedded into one of the walls. It's not exactly a TV, but more like a way for them to talk to you from the outside. They also show "Events" from these screens. One of the few reasons you ever leave the room is to go to the showers, where I am now, actually. I met the leader of this place, in a way. He talked to me personally from his little screen, but I couldn't see his face.. He sounded like he was in his thirties, and he sounded very wise, and also... He sounded familiar. He told me, "My name is Overseer. This place is where all of the special people in the world go.You're special too, Gridlock, with that power you have. Oh, by the way, they wont work in here. Your powers, I mean. you'll have to make due without them." Well, something tells me that me and "Overseer" will start to get more acquainted. but for now, I'm just going to finish my shower.
The view changes to the hallway. Two armed guards are walking down the corridor with a girl. The girl has black hair down to, over one of her shoulders, and pale skin. Her eyes are blue, but a very light blue, making it seem like ice. She has a tattoo on her back, black wings. She's being walked naked down the hallway by the guards, and people from the cells are reaching out towards her. She tries to cover herself insecurely from the evil eyes that watch her.
Overseer's voice enters, "Codename: Angel. RFC: Accidental witness. Power: Not Understood. Past: Normal. Danger Rating: Minimal. Wash her up and put her with a partner. This one shouldn't last too long."
The guards walk her to a door, and click open a lock. The lock is chrome, and studded on the sides. It has a small turnkey in the center, which the guard pulls out and turns, unlocking the door. As soon as the door is open, a sound comes from the chamber inside. Running water, It's a shower. The guards walk her inside and to the side of the shower, where one says, "Come on little bitch. In ya go."
The beautiful girl reached her hand into the shower hesitantly, testing the water. She said, in a little and innocent voice, "It's cold."
"Too bad bitch. Inside, now."
She put one hand back into the shower and onto the temperature control knob. A guard pulled her back away from the knob. She said to him, "It's too cold! I can't shower with it that cold, I'll get sick!'
"Fine." He replied, and moved over to turn up the shower. He looked back to her again, and signaled for her to go in.
She entered the shower, and the guards left the room, a series of clicks locking the dimly lit shower room. She looked up at the shower nozzle, and whispered, "No more rain" ...
From the corner of the medium sized shower, Gridlocks voice echoed out, "Tell me about it"
She turned around and saw him curled into a ball, under one of the shower heads. "Who... Are you?"
