Chapter 1: The Gift
It's a classic story. Boy sees girl, girl meets boy. Boy kisses girl, Girl dates boy. Boy gets shot, and girl jumps in front of traffic. It turns out it's the boy's car, and they live happily ever after.. Right? Well, that's not your everyday version, but that's the story of Garnet and Phoenix so far. They seemed.... like Soulmates.
Phoenix was allowed to spend the night at Garnet's house this time. Unlike the last time, when they just fell asleep and he never went home. Him and Garnet had laid down on the couch, her on his chest and in his arms. She had listened to his heart, commenting on the intensity of it.
"Must just be that I'm with you," He said, smiling wide. They were watching movies, ranging from Star Trek, to Wall-E. Mostly her choice, since Phoenix seemed to be a 'live for the girl' type of guy. Which he was, but still.
They cuddle late into the night, joking around. Whenever he decided to poke her, she would hit him softly. Soon after, she would remember his wound and have a miniature panic attack. Curled up together for what seemed to turn into days, they eventually fell asleep.
Saturday morning, sunrise and Phoenix awoke first. He wanted to make things nicer for Garnet, since she seemed to have a few emotional troubles, his shooting being the most obvious one. Lightly shifting her off of his chest, he went into the kitchen and cracked out a sure fire way to make her smile. Reaching into the cabinet, he pulled something out and smiled.
"Pancake mix, Yes." He started cooking up food, and poured a glass of cranberry juice. He looked through the doorway as he was setting up the dishes for a nice breakfast and saw her still sleeping, clinging to the small blanket they had been using. He smiled, the tiptoed over to the jacket he had been wearing the previous night, and before that. He pulled a small box out of it, and put it next to her plate, then finished the pancakes. Just as he wrapped up the food and placed it on her plate, she sleepily walked into the kitchen. He smiled at her. "Morning, beautiful. I'm sorry, but I made you your favorite breakfast."
She looked at it, then smiled and looked at him, smiling wider. "What, is this our 'we're even, no more dying' breakfast, or something?"
He laughed. "If you want, bunny rabbit." They sat at the table and she reached for butter, then her eyes caught onto the box. Her expression changed to surprise, and she looked at him funny. "Hm?" She squeaked, a sound that Phoenix loved.
"What?" He smiled. "It's a gift I got on the way home. I forgot about it when you jumped in front of my car last night."
He left out a small kiddish "heh" and looked at the box. Picking it up, she moved the small blue bow off of it and opened it, some small, silver jewelry inside. Her eyes widened and mouth hung open a bit, as if she wasn't expecting to see something shiny in the small box. She looked at him, hiding a bit of tears that was beginning to accumulate in her eyes. She wrapped her arms around his chest, tightly, and thanked him. She then put on the gift, and they ate breakfast happily.

Chapter 2: My House and Home
“What about this?” She took her headphone and passed it over to him.
“Heard it.” He said, smiling at her.
“This one?” She passed it to him again.
“Heard it” He passed it back., smiling as she growled under her breathe.
“I’m beginning not to like you.”
Garnet smiled as Phoenix wrapped his arms around her. “You love me, don’t deny it.” She gasped as he picked her up into his arms and swung her around.
“Put me down!”
“Never,” Phoenix looked up at her “I need you, it’s a health issue. If I don’t have you near me at least once again, I’ll die.” Phoenix slowly lowered her to the ground but he didn’t let her go.
Garnet wrapped her arms around him, listening to his heartbeat and trying to match it up with her own. “I love you.” She whispered into his chest. His heart picked up it’s beat.
“I love you too.”
They had spent the day together, walking around Phoenix’s neighborhood. She felt a bit like she was in foreign country, not her new backyard. “And this is my house, the one I’m never at.” He pointed to an old white house. The grass in front of it was overgrown and the driveway was colored in old toys and a bench.
Garnet started walking up the driveway, Phoenix behind her. “What are we doing?” Phoenix grabbed her wrist and pulled her to him.
“Going inside silly.” She used the wrist he was holding onto and dragged him with her.
“But.. but.. but..”
"No buts." Garnet slowly pushed the door open.
There a flock of little girls crowded her, pushing Phoenix out of the way. “Are you Phoenix’s girlfriend?” “When did you guys meet?” “Have you kissed him yet?” “Has he kissed you?”
Garnet kneeled and looked at their little faces. They all had similar features to her Phoenix and they were just as cute. She looked up to see Phoenix talking to what looked like his grandmother and a guy that looked about their age. He has dyed blond hair and little flecks of blue mixed it. They were all looking over at Garnet and the group of Phoenix’s sisters.
“Hi I’m Garnet.” She moved towards Phoenix’s grandmother and the guy with dyed hair. His grandmother smiled and reached a hand out, taking Garnet’s hand into her own.
“I’m Anna.”
The boy looked her over then smiled. “I know who you’re are. You’re Phoenix’s wife.” He smiled wickedly as Phoenix and Garnet blushed wildly. “I’m Leo by the way.”
“Garnet,” Phoenix’s grandmother reached for Garnet again. “Let me show you around.” Garnet smiled and followed, being lead further into the mysterious house of her boyfriend.
“Heard it.” He said, smiling at her.

Chapter 3: Promise
"Right here is the living room, currently backing up as a room for my sisters." Phoenix pointed at each bunk of the beds and said a name of a sister, from oldest to youngest, then continued onto what they were like, they're attitudes, and how each one of them hated to actually clean the room, but loved to make a mess of it. The whole time, Phoenix's little sisters were crowding around Garnet, awing at her unique beauty and gentleness. She smiled at them, and kneeled down next to the youngest one, having a small chat with her. She talked as one would to a six year old, childishly. The conversation included, but wasn't limited to, the little one's favorite movie, what she named her dolls, and how she wanted to have a pizza.
Eventually, Phoenix managed to separate the love of his life from his sisters, distracting them with a show on the television.
"Well," Phoenix started, "This is the basic layout of my room." He pointed to a large black bunk bed. "This is my bed, no mattress on top." He moved to the other bed in the room, a small cot. "That's Leo's." Garnet nodded, and sat at the edge of his bed, looking at all of the small details of his room. Knick-knacks and doodads lined the top of all his cabinets, and on shelves in his room. Phoenix went over to her, and sat beside her.
"What'cha think?" He said.
"It's cool. Very decorated." She glanced over and smiled at him.
"That's good, I'm glad you like it, bunny rabbit." He smiles back, and rubbed the tip of his nose to hers. "I'm so happy to have you. I couldn't even imagine lo-"
"Don't even finish that sentence.."
"Okay, okay! ... OH! I have something for you, I remembered!"
"Again?" She gave him a surprised look, and watched as he looked around the room for a box. After finding it, he walked over and gently placed it on her lap.
"Ta-da!"
"Awesome, I love boxes!"
They both laughed.
"No, bunny, it's in the box."
"Okay kitty." Garnet opened the box and pulled out a very fluffy stuffed animal. "Awww! It's a bunny!"
"Mhmm. Although, I've seen a prettier bunny before." He smiled at her.
She smiled, and let out a small blush.
They watched movies for a few hours, played around in the snow with Phoenix's little sisters, and had a short back and forth argument when Leo teased them.
Eventually, Leo left to go to a friend's house, and the two of them were alone again. Phoenix waited just until the door was closed, the turned to Garnet. He reached his hand up and softly brushed her cheek, put his lips to hers gently, and put her on his lap. She blushed at this, hiding her face in his jacket. Phoenix let out a small amused laugh, then pushed her chin up, kissed her once more - and actions which she returned -, and then thought for a moment. "You said you haven't seen Wall-E, Love?"
She nodded slowly, able to see where he was direction their time. "I was told by a handsome kitty that I could watch it sometime with him."
"Sometime is now." He moved her beside him again, kissed her once more, then grabbed a movie from one of the shelves. He started up the movie, laid on the bed, then pulled Garnet close to him. She leaned her head on his shoulder, and cuddled her arms around him. They watched the movie together cutely, as every time a scene that touched the heart came by he would softly kiss her. When the movie had finally ended, Phoenix decided it was probably a good idea to bring her home. She never told her mother where she was headed, so if her mother was home by now, she may be worried sick about her daughter.
Walking down the sidewalk to her house, Phoenix held tightly onto Garnet, being sure to stabilize her so she was less likely to slip. This way, if she did, they would fall down together. She laughed at him. "I can walk, you."
"Yeah, and I can help, sweetheart. You're accident prone. I'm expecting something to fall out of the sky and nearly hit you at least once in our life together."
She stopped and turned to him, leaned up and kissed him softly on the lips again. "I'm looking forward to the 'together' part." Smiled, another blush rushing to her.
"Ahh, that's the boring part," He said sarcastically. "Wait no, that's the fun part. We can get a nice house, with some kids in it, and somewhere with all four seasons." He stopped and thunk himself for a bit. "and a truck with a snowplow on it." Garnet giggled.
"Can we have pets? I want some bunnies, and some kitties and so-"
"Yes, Love, we can have pets." He smiled at her as they reached the end of the driveway. Behind them, the sun was setting, reflecting off of the clouds and creating an explosive effect of red, orange, and purple, blending towards them in perfect harmony. However, the were too focus on each other's eyes to even notice the immaculate sunset behind them. Phoenix had his arms around Garnet's waist, pulling her as a whole towards himself. Garnet had her arms on his chest, using them to lean towards his face more. They leaned together and enjoyed another soft kiss.
Phoenix whispered softly into her ear, "I Love You so much, Garnet.. you're my everything. Can I keep you forever?"
She responded, just as softly, "Yes, Phoenix, you can keep me, just as long as I can keep you too.
"I promise." They pinky-swore, then the solid passion dissolved to it's normal, lingering love.
"Well, it's always a good day when I see you. Today was no exception." he said.
"I think we might have been able to do without Leo asking about the wedding every few minutes, especially since we're not planning a wedding right now."
"Yeah, you don't live with him, Love."
Another laugh.
"Well," Garnet began, as the walked up her steps, "I'm just Glad we got through all of the misfortunes from before, and we're even able to talk like this."
"Same." He leaned over and softly kissed her. "Can't imagine us without it."
"I could. Remember before you met me? It would be like that."
"Pfft! Boooooriiiing!"
Yet another laugh.
Phoenix brushed her cheek softly. "Well, Bunny... I gotta go. It's getting late."
"We could pretend to fall asleep on the couch again." She smiled hopefully. "I love to have My teddy bear when I sleep."
He laughed a bit. "Nah, my family's not buying that anymore, I don't think. Although, cuddling on your couch is a great way to get to sleep." He smiled at her, and her own smile faded just a bit, then returned upon see his.
Garnet leaned down from her stairs and kissed him. "Then go, go! It's cold out. Text me when you're home?"
He smiled. "I promise."

Chapter 4: Bump Bump
-2 Days Later-
Bump.. Bump.. Bump.. Bump..BumpBump
Garnet smiled and shifted, hoping Phoenix wouldn't wake up. She glanced over at her alarmclock and softly groaned as it showed her the time. 4:30 AM. Slowly she slipped out of Phoenix's arms and tip-toed into her living room. Boxes still covered most of the surfaces even though it had been such a long time since they had moved in. Garnet's parents were both busy most of the time and basically were never home. Normally they had to fit her into their schecules and then they'd spend time talking with her on the phone. She slipped out of the front door, making sure to bring her house keys with her. She walked slowly through the darkness, listening to the sounds of animals just begining to stir. Her feet glided through the dew covered grass. It woke up her mind and calmed her all at once. Garnet sat down on a moss covered rock, letting her legs and feet settle into the grass. She stared around her back yard and wondered what she would have done without Phoenix. She would have been utterly alone in a town with noobe she knew and an empty house.
"Garnet?!" She heard from the front door, and Phoenix ran out in nothing but a pair of jeans. He looked around franticallt until he spotted her. His body relaxed and he jogged over to her. "There you are baby girl, I was worried you had disappeared. Phoenix picked her up and places her on his lap. He began to kiss her neck and lips.
Garnet giggled and cuddles with him. "I'd never leave, 'Nix... I need you." She spoke softly and traced the scar on his chest. "I love you."
Phoenix kised her lips and held her tight to him. "I love you too."
They sat there for a long time, just talking and kissing while the sun crept up. Time didn't matter. They had forever to do whatever they wanted. Suddenly Phoenix stood up and pulled Garnet up after him. "Who.." she managed to spit out before he had picked her up and thrown her over his shoulder. "PHOENIX!!" She complained loudly.
"Shhh! The neighbors might wake up." Phoesnix laughed and tapped her on the ass. She glared at his back as he walked into her house. Thwack!! Garnet hit his ass hard, laughing when he squealed in surprise.
"You're going to pay for that!" Phoenix said, then threw her down into the bed. She bounced and laughed as he climbed on top of her and pinned her down. She stopped laughing as he leaned close to her face. She looked at his smooth lips and desperately wanted to kiss him. A large part of her wanted something more to happen, but she tried to push that from her mind. He leaned in close enough to kiss her but then suddenly moved and kissed her cheek.
For a moment she sat in stunned silence. "Jjjjerk!!" she stuttered, then went to shove him away, then realized her hands were still pinned. Phoenix chuckled and used the hand that wasn't holding hers to rub a thumb softly across her collarbone. She moaned softly, her eyelids fluttering. He began to slowly kiss her neck and her collarbone, pressing his body against hers. Garnet let out another soft moan as the phone rang. Phoenix groaned and let go of her hands so she could grab it. "Hello?" she tried to keep the light moan from her voice. Her brows furrowed. "James? How'd you get my number?" Phoenix looked up at her confused. "Oh.. I see.. I have to go but I'll talk to you soon..." Garnet placed the phone on the hook and closed her eyes tight.
"Who is James?" Phoenix whispered.
"My future husband.."

Chapter 5: You Had a Bad Day?
"Wait, so you're just gonna lead me on a string and then be like 'Oh, by the way Phoenix, I've got a future husband!'" He yelled, pulling on his shoes.
"Phoenix, it's not like that!" Garnet yelled back, pulling on the sleeve of his jacket.
"No, it's just like that." He pulled his arm away. "You lied to me. I'm out of here. Come get me if you decide that you're, you know, NOT going to just selectively forget relationship ruining information."
Phoenix ran the argument over in his head again. It had been three days since the argument, and he had left hist shirt and sock at her house, he'd rushed out so fast.. He walked home through the cold in just the hoodie and jeans. "Stupid." He said to himself, and shook his head again. Sitting up on his bed, he ran over, in a fraction of a second, at least a dozen different, better ways he could have handled the situation. He shivered a bit. He was sitting in the dark, about noon, his window open. He had black sweats on, no socks or shirt, his hair pulled back lazily. With a long sigh, he got up and slid the window shut, one last breeze of frigid air blasting in to attack his bare chest. He cursed at the cold, then rubbed his neck and walked out of the room, hungry and dizzy. He hadn't eaten much since the fight with Garnet. Walking out into the kitchen, he noticed with was quiet. Right, his mother and sisters had moved out.. They went to live with his mother's boyfriend in a nicer neighborhood. He thought again. Leo? His girlfriend's house, probably. He never actually told Phoenix his plans. Looking over at his Gramma's door, he noticed it ajar and dark. Nobody there either.
He opened the fridge to look for milk, getting hit with another burst of cold air. "Shit.." he muttered with a shiver, and pulled out the milk. He grabbed a bowl and a generic rip-off back of supermarket brand cereal and poured it into a bowl. He uncapped the milk and poured it, the milk coming out chunky and sour. With one glance, he made a disgusted face. "Mother fu.." he sighed, recapped the milk, and tossed the whole bottle into the trash, followed by the contents of the bowl. "What a shitty week." He dropped the bowl in the sink, and heard a small shatter. The bowl had cracked in half..
He sighed once more, grabbed his jacket from the back of a chair- Where it had been for a few days now- put it on without zipping it up. "Shoes.." He went into his room, grabs his shoes and wallet. He slid the shoes on and counted some money out of the wallet. "5 bucks should get me enough milk for breakfast... Wait, it should, right?" He looked over his shoulder, as if someone was standing there. He shrugged, put the wallet back and the 5 in his pocket" Eh, whatever. if it doesn't I'll just get chips." he said, finishing the conversation with himself. He walked over to the front door and opened it, a sudden wave of sunlight and freezing air paraded into the house, blinding him and blowing into his jacket, making him cold once again. He began "What the f-" Then stopped when he opened his eyes. Staring at the figure hesitantly holding her hand up to knock, he could barely mutter "Hi Garnet." Then he remembered he was mad at her, he tried to shake off any happy he had. "So, what are you-"
She walked into his house and swiftly slid her arms around him, inside the jacket, holding him tightly. He felt cold tears roll down his collarbone and chest. He sighed, closed the door with his foot, and said sarcastically. "Hey, it's cold out, wanna come in? No, really, I insist." He heard what sounded like a muffled attempt at a short laugh.
"I'm sorry Phoenix.."
"It's fine.. Wait, no, it's not. What the hell?"
"It's not the way you think.."
"So you're not cheating on me with some dickhead named James?"
"No! Did I look happy to answer the phone? I didn't exactly let you leave, either, you just yelled at me and stormed off without letting me explain!" She leaned back enough to shoot him an annoyed and hurt look.
Phoenix stared at her for a moment. He leaned in and pressed his lips to hers, wrapping his arms around her tightly and picking her up, to which her legs wrapped around his waist and she melted into his arms, kissing him passionately back. For an unknown time, they just stood there kissing, their troubles melting away for a short time.
Eventually, Garnet spoke. "Will you let me talk about it?"
"After breakfast."
She laughed very lightly, her gaze locked passionately with his own. ".. it's 12:30 Phoenix.."
"Brunch. I said brunch."
She laughed softly again, leaned onto his chest and kissed his collarbone. "... fine then, Brunch. then we talk?"
"After." He placed her on the table, then stared at her. She stared back. Leaning softly, he pushed her back onto the table, his body pressed to hers and his hands softly pinning hers near her head. "I missed you.."
She kissed him again, a blush running to her face. "I-I missed you too.. P-pancakes?"
He smiled softly. "For you, anything." He up, his hands sliding down her arms, then he turned away and began grabbing things from the cabinet.
Garnet glanced around the house. It was much emptier and quieter now. "Where is everyone?"
"Gone where?"
"Mom moved out, Sisters went with her. Leo's at his girl's, I'd assume. Gramma went somewhere. Probably shopping, or out with the family. Is it a weekend?"
"It's Saturday.."
He hesitated. "Is it? I... haven't been counting the time." It had been three days, five hours, twenty-seven minutes and around thirty seconds, he knew.
"I have.." the room fell into a dead silence for a few minutes.
Phoenix through the mix onto a pan and grabbed a couple glasses, placing them on the table. He grabbed cranberry juice from the fridge and poured two glasses. It had been unopened.
"You like Cranberry juice?"
"I bought it the day before our fight. I haven't had the appetite for it." He closed it slowly, then put it back in the fridge. Another awkward silence. He leaned back on the stove and sipped the cup, looking at her. She had bags under her eyes, some small scratches from what he saw on her arms, and slightly disheveled hair. Her clothes were all black, and her glasses had some smudges on them. "Nice getup." he said putting the juice down and snatching her glasses off of her face.
She looked at him surprised and confused, then hesitantly stuttered "Th-thanks?" She stared at the glasses. Phoenix exhaled slowly on them creating a small fog on the lenses, then wiped it off with the cuff of his sleeve, both sides. He then put them carefully back on her face, and smiled at her.
They made small talk for a few more minutes until the pancakes were done, then he put a plate of chocolate-chip pancakes on the table, and small amount of butter melting on them. "You know, baby.." he stared, "You can get off the table, if you like." he sat on a chair nearby. "There are more comfortable things to sit on in my house then a hardwood table."
"Good point." She got up, then sat on his lap, a leg on each side of him, her body pressed tight to his, her lips just an inch from his own. "I'd think that my knight in his shining.." She looked down at his bare chest in his hoodie, then back up to his face "Sexiness will suffice as my seat for a bit."
He laughed softly, opening his mouth to argue, then stopped. "Garnet.." ... He kissed her again, deeply and lovingly, to which she returned. They continued for several minutes, then Garnet stopped them.
"We should eat before it gets cold.. We still need that talk."
"Good, let's start with this then. Two questions: Do your parents even know I exist? and How do I keep you to myself and away from this 'James' asshole?"
